The Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter will be recognized at the 89th Ohio FFA Convention as a Top 10 Chapter Overall in the State of Ohio! This is the sixth year in a row that Lynchburg-Clay FFA has been named a Premier Chapter in Ohio!

In order to receive this honor, the chapter submitted the National Chapter Award Application earlier in March to the Ohio FFA Association where it was evaluated by a panel of 30 teachers. The application considers three areas of activities which includes: Growing Leaders, Building Communities and Strengthening Agriculture. In addition to being named Top 10 Overall, Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter has also been ranked in the Top 10 Chapters in all three of the areas of the Premier Chapter competition.

Specific activities of the chapter include: volunteering at HOPE Emergency and the Ronald McDonald House; hosting a Greenhand Night to honor all first year FFA members; holding the annual Greg Wilkin Memorial Alumni Basketball Tournament; working with the Lynchburg Lions Club to host an annual Truck and Tractor Pulls; assisting with the Southern Ohio Antique Tractor Pullers’ Association’s pulls; and promoting agriculture through Quality Assurance and Ag Awareness programs.

To determine the final placings, six Lynchburg-Clay FFA members will give presentations based on the activities that were submitted on the National Chapter Award Application at the Ohio FFA Convention on May 4-5, 2017 at the Ohio Expo Center.

Students that will be representing the chapter include: Makayla Creed & Eric Young in the Growing Leaders Division; Lucas Brown & Quinn Walker will be in the Building Communities Division while Kelsey Arnett & Abigail Blankenship will compete in the Strengthening Agriculture Division. The students have been practicing a ten minute presentation that will be given to a panel of judges.

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter has also been ranked as a Gold Medal Chapter, which is awarded to the top 10% of all chapters in Ohio. There are over 300 chapters in Ohio.

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter has 68 FFA members that are enrolled in Agriculture Education in grades 9-12. The chapter is advised by Ms. Stacie Rhonemus. The chapter would like to thank all the community businesses and individuals that have assisted throughout the school year with various activities.
