Blizzard Bags - Make up Days

February 6, 2014

Dear families:

The weather continues to task the daily routines at Lynchburg-Clay Local Schools. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in calling delays and cancellations in an effort to keep our students safe.

All K-12 students should be bringing home “Blizzard Bag” materials in the coming days. Please place these in a safe location. Please help support your child by having him/her work on the Blizzard Bag work during that day. The teachers have included challenging yet self-explanatory work for the students to complete. The work provided will allow the district to make-up snow days rather than adding days to the end of the school year.

Students should return each Blizzard Bag’s assignment within a two-week period from the time assigned.

Additionally, any days missed beyond the three Blizzard Bag days will be added at the conclusion of the school year. We are still waiting to see if the state legislature and Governor will provide additional calamity days. Currently, we have missed 14 days (as of 2/6/14). Our calendar has the make-up days listed and can be found on the district webpage. We will provide more information on make-up days once the weather breaks and we receive information from the Ohio Department of Education.

Thank you for your cooperation with our first-ever Blizzard Bag assignment. If you have questions regarding the Blizzard Bag work, please contact your child’s building administrator.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shane C. Shope

Superintendent
