Lynchburg-Clay FFA Excels at State Skills Contest

Submitted by: Brandon Young, FFA Reporter

On Saturday, March 24, 2018, members of the Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter competed in the State Milk Quality & Products Career Development Event. During this contest, members must understand factors that affect milk quality, cheese quality, and consumer demand related to both. Members must be aware of milk production, milk quality and safety, milk processing or manufacturing, and marketing of raw milk. Members must also identify various types of non-diary liquid products and cheeses, along with being able to perform the California Mastitis Test. Lynchburg-Clay FFA was well represented as the team placed 1st in the State contest. Team members included: Hailey Waits (who placed 2nd overall individually), Kelsey Arnett (who placed 3rd overall individually), Makayla Creed (who placed 5th overall individually), Kara Williams (placed 21st overall individually) and, alternate member Elizabeth Zaremba (who placed 24th overall). Arnett, Creed, Waits, and Williams have earned the right to represent Ohio FFA at the National Contest which will be held at the National FFA Convention in October, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team would like to express their sincere appreciation for their coach, Mrs. Jo Heather Arnett, for the countless hours of dedication she has displayed and Mr. Larry Lokai for assisting the team. Congratulations to all and good luck at the National Contest.
