Sub-district Parliamentary Procedure Contest

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA Officers have been busy preparing themselves for upcoming Parliamentary Procedure contests! The team members have been practicing at 6:30 a.m., three days a week for the past two months in order to learn the proper rules and procedures for the contest.

The team consists of eight members and they are responsible for learning 23 different abilities and studying over 300 questions. During the contest, the team has a two minute preparation session where they are able to set up the meeting agenda with the information that they have been assigned. The team is assigned six abilities, that they must perform, and four motions that can be utilized throughout the presentation. Opening and closing ceremonies are recited and a written test over the 300 questions is administered. Members are scored on their ability to discuss the motions and abilities along with moving the abilities correctly. The team only has 15 minutes to perform the opening and closing ceremonies along with the meeting agenda.

I am proud to say that all of their hard work has paid off as the team placed 1st in the Sub-district contest, which was held on Tuesday, November 25 at Whiteoak High School! The Lynchburg-Clay FFA team will compete at the District 9 Parliamentary Procedure Contest on Thursday, December 4 at Whiteoak High School. Good luck!
