The District Leadership Team met today via zoom. Based on our discussion I have made the following decisions for the week of Jan 10:
Grades 6-12 will remain on remote learning for the week of Jan 10. Students are expected to log on and complete work as assigned.
Preschool and grades K-5 will have a calamity day for Monday January 10 and then be remote for the remainder of the week. Ms. Godbey will communicate more details on how the week will roll out in terms of work for students. We are working to deliver work packets for students, details to come.
We are trying to create a plan for food distribution for families as needed.
We are working on alternative plans for Homecoming. Details will be forthcoming.
The reasons for these decisions revolve around the following factors:
***We have a large number of staff across the district affected by COVID. We have several coverage issues to consider. Substitutes are very difficult to find. Transportation has been hit hard in the past few days. We simply need to get healthy.
***We had a water pipe burst at the elementary school yesterday. We estimate about 30,000 gallons of water being dumped into the wing where preschool and kindergarten are housed. We need to give district staff additional time to clean up and prepare for some modifications for the days ahead.
These decisions are not easy and have consequences for everyone. I am concerned about our students and families, but I am equally concerned about the stress this situation is placing on our staff. Please know that as a family we are here for each other. Reach out if you need help.
