Q and U Wedding

On April 17th, Mrs. Roberts’ kindergarten class at Lynchburg-Clay Elementary held a “wedding ceremony” while learning about the letter Qq. The other three kindergarten classrooms attended as guests, as well as Mrs. Minton, school principal. Mr. Q and Miss u were “united” in marriage to help the students understand that u always follows Q in words. During the vows, the students were told that Mr. Q was quiet and shy and needed Miss u to help him make his sound in words. All K students dressed up in wedding attire for the occasion. Mrs. Roberts' class dressed for their roles in the pretend wedding as either Mr. Q, Miss u, queens (bridesmaids), quarterbacks (groomsmen) quarter girls (flower girls), ushers, ring pop bearer, and program/music attendants. All students also attended a reception where gifts were given to "Mr. and Mrs. Qu" that started with those letters (quilts, quaker oats, quadruplets, quills, etc).  The kindergarten classes would especially like to thank Batter Up Bakery in Leesburg for their generous donation of cupcakes for all students for the reception. Learning is fun!!!
