WHAT A JOURNEY...
ALL you FLAT STANLEY followers, check this out!

On the 100th day of school this year, our Kindergarteners and 1st graders launched balloons.  One of Mrs. Bandow's student's balloon, with a Flat Stanley attached, had an amazingly long journey!  The Flat Stanley, that belonged to Austin in Mrs. Bandow's class, was found in a wooded area in the state of NEW YORK!

Read all about it:

"Hello Mrs. Bandow’s class,

My name is Jason Waterman. I am an 8th grade teacher at Silver Creek Middle School, NY. My father, W. Dale Waterman and his wife Barb, found your Flat Stanley when they took a walk in the woods of their property in Forestville, NY. I am sorry we had a difficult time with the disheveled Stanley, but we could read your school name and “Mrs. Bardon’s” (muddy & water damaged). Being a teacher myself, I was pretty sure that I could track you down through your schools website.

W. Dale & Barb Waterman would love to get a photo of the class or a letter back if possible. They really enjoyed their discovery of your Flat Stanley and his 382 mile flight."

Then, Mrs. Bandow received another letter:

"Dear Austin and Miss Bandow, Stanley had an incredible journey to our house. We live on 60 acres of land in the country. There are so many trees in our area,we are also about 8 miles from Lake Erie, and approximately 35 miles east of Buffalo. We had company on Sunday April 24th . They took a ride on our Gator through the woods and found Stanley. We have 2 ponds and a creek. He was meant to be found. I have him on our refrigerator. I own a bakery in Dunkirk Ny. Sweet Perfections Bakery and my husband is an accountant. Between us, we have 7 children and 8 grandchildren. I think Stanley is missing Austin and I'd like to send him home. I think Stanley will be Austins treasure for many years to come. I will mail him to the school. I'm so happy to know who it was that put all of that love into Stanley. We all learned a great lesson...with faith, all things are possible. Sincerely ,Barbara Waterman. Ps..will you please send the school address.
